Chris began singing at an early age where many musicians get their start: the church. He credits his parents as his first early vocal coaches. He began performing professionally at the age of 15 with a group called the Premiers who were featured in a number of commercials. With a musical background deeply rooted in rock and country music, Chris has matured musically over the years with groups such as Candor and Mezzanine. As a performer, Chris mixes an edgy baritone voice with warm, deep, bass vocals setting him apart from most other country singers.
Chris's love for country music began when he received his first country record in 1978 ...yes, that means vinyl. That album was Kenny Rogers's "The Gambler". A love affair with country music began there and expanded as Chris listened to the country rock sounds of The Eagles and more as he accompanied his father on trips to break horses.
A spin through Chris's IPod today will unveil his preference for Texas Country, Americana and singer-songwriters that he was exposed to while attending Texas Christian University. Chris would tell you his biggest musical influences are: Roger Clyne, Will Hoge, Robert Earl Keen, Randy Travis, Chris Knight and Cody Canada. |
